New page

Back to the [[Tome of LARP]]
----
This guide was originally written by Mags Ranger with assistance from Daniel Gutsell. It was originally designed for [[Swordcraft]] week long quest events so some advice is site (Mafeking) specific, but overall it is a good base for preparing for any game.
What to bring to quest
*SLEEPING
*Tent
*Sleeping bag/blankets
*Air mattress/ stretcher/ camp mattress. (or else you will be very cold and stiff)	[ air mattress and stretchers are cold and require insulation. ]
*Warm sleeping clothes (tracksuit pants/flannies)	[ should not sleep in clothing that has been worn during the day. Sleeping clothing should be kept separate for this use only ]
*Beanie
TOILETRIES
*Wet wipes	[ cannot be disposed of down toilets at Mafeking ]
*Toothbrush and toothpaste
*Tissues/ handkerchief (for immersion)
*Spray deodorants deteriorate tents rapidly ]
*Any medications
*NOT TOILET PAPER [ Mafeking supplies, special type is required due to septic system, players ARE NOT to bring their own ]
*If needed, feminine hygiene products. (Ladies, even if you are not expecting your period, camping can make it come early)
*Condoms (just in case, and be discreet)	. Again, cannot be disposed of down toilets ]
*Towel
*Hairties and brush
*Extra meds (panadol, antihistamines, antacids)
EATING
*Foods, high in carbs and sugars for each day. Stuff like, soups,, spam, bread, trail mix, muesli bars. If you have no idea what to make and have a bit of extra cash, most camping stores will sell full meal packages for about $20 for a days worth.
*Some warbands do group cooking, and some vendors are available
*Drinks (tea/coffee/ juice)
*Booze (if thats your jam)	[ reminder that no glass is permitted ]
*Water. (mafaking has clean water) [ Mafeking is supplied by untreated bore water. Used for years without incident, but better to be clear ]
*Cooking stove and pot/pan	[ note http://www.elgas.com.au/blog/1461-accc-recalls-portable-butane-stove-cookers-lunchbox-cookers . New cookers sold after this date are fine. Important to note that fire extinguisher should be near any cooking equipment, and spare fuel stored minimum 5m from operating cookers ]
*Eating utensils (Plate, knife, fork, spoon, cup) [ disposable recommened for inexperienced campers ]
*Washing up kit [ also eski/cooler/hilly bin full of ice to store food that requires cooling. Melted ice should be drained daily ]
*Hand sanitiser for use before meals.
*Fire extinguisher next to cooking gear. Fire blanket if possible. Fire buckets full of water to strew around campsite.
*Re-iterate the no-glass rule at Mafeking applies to food containers.

CLOTHING
*Normal character kit
*Thick socks (Pack what you think and add 3 pairs)
