Back to the Tome of LARP

This is a pretty huge project so it won't be finished in the immediate future. However I will be adding to it as time goes on. It probably won't make it into the first PDF for the Tome but should make the second.

Weapons

Swords

There are many types of swords available. The following are some broad categories that cover these weapons.

Arming sword

The term arming sword is a generic term for what is considered a single handed sword. It generally has a crossguard and has existed in some form for many hundreds of years

Rapier

The rapier is a sword common to rennaisance Europe. It is mainly known as a thrusting weapon and is commonly associated with what we know as 'fencing'.

Longsword

The longsword is also called a 2 handed sword or greatsword. Contrary to common belief it was not a slow and cumbersome weapon. There are many manuals on fighting with a longsword that have survived to the modern day and translated into English.

Messer

The messer is an interesting weapon as it is essentially a big knife.

Axes

Axes have been used as a weapon in various forms for about as long as they have existed.

Hatchet

The hatchet is a small utility axe, sometimes also called a tomahawk.

Battleaxe

A larger axe designed and weighted more for fighting that chopping wood. These have existed in many cultures but are particularly associated with Viking and other Scandinavian groups.

This is a generic name for a large two handed axe. This is similar to but generally used differently from a poleaxe.
